Dish Lab Teach the arm, one line at a time

Program

0 lines

Type one step per line. The arm does exactly what's written — nothing more.

    How to run the demo

    1. Ask the kids for the steps. Type them literally.
    2. Press Run. Watch what breaks.
    3. Fix one step at a time. Try gently, wait, wet sponge, add soap, rinse dishes, grab towel. A burnt pan wants turn on hot water and wash pan 2.
    4. When Olivier gets clipped, ask what the arm was missing. Then install it: watch for people at the top of the program, or the toggle beside the Proximity sensor. From then on the arm holds by itself.
    5. Talk about the sensor needed to catch each mistake.
    6. Green all 7 goals. Show the factory clip. Done.

The arm has one gripper and holds one thing at a time. It does exactly what you write. A glass is more fragile than a plate. Someone may walk up while the arm is working.

Short on time? Tick only the plate under Tonight's dishes. More time? Add the pan, fork and spoon. Watch a correct run writes and runs a finished program for whatever is ticked.

The display under the kitchen shows water temperature, soap level, what got washed and how fast. Copy metrics hands the same numbers over as JSON, the way an agent would read them. Nana's notebook, on the right, collects every rule the arm learns by failing.

    Dish Lab

A classroom demo for the day I get asked "what does a robot do at home?" Kids write the program. The arm follows it literally. Reality corrects us, one step at a time.
